Traditional Piano Lessons

Traditional Piano Lessons including scales, chords, technique, and repertoire are still a fundamental part of learning how to play the piano. In addition to these instrument specific skills, the student is also trained to think musically or audiate. Click here for more details about the lessons.

Music and Movement

Movement is critical when making music on an instrument. Movement activities include singing and chanting in different tonalities and meters. From breathing to feeling a beat, the concept of music is easily internalized through movement.

Tonal and Rhythmic patterns are the basis of music much like words are the basis of language. And like language, the first step to understanding is listening. Activities include rhythmic and tonal pattern training and also "technical" hearing activities like the "Mystery Bottle."

Performance

Performance opportunities, both competitive and non-competitive, are scheduled throughout the year. Working with Colorado State Music Teachers Association (CSMTA) and Foothills Music Teachers Association (FMTA), Hoops Music Studio students can participate in formal recitals, ensemble recitals, informal "gigs," Sonatina festivals, and Achievement Day which includes: written theory tests, performances, compositions, ear tests, scales/chords, and much more. Click here for more Achievement Day details.

Never a boring moment at Hoops Music Studio when there are so many ways to learn music. Improvisation and exploration begin from day one.
